Seleipiri Charles-Norfleet hails from Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where she had a notable aptitude for the sciences and math. She participated in numerous science and math competitions in her high school winning several accolades and awards. She pursued higher education at Louisiana State University (LSU), earning a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Driven by her passion for research and developing technologies to advance our understanding of diseases and development, she pursued her PhD in Bioengineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). She had authored several publications on the use of miniaturized devices/chips to advance biomedical research. Throughout her education, she actively participated in several teaching and mentorship roles. She has served as a TA for Advanced Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering design courses at Georgia Tech. She has also tutored college-level math and chemistry in one-on-one and large group settings at LSU. In her free time, Seleipiri enjoys running races, reading fantasy novels, watching anime, baking, and volunteering to learn about her community.
Philosophy
My approach to teaching science and math stems from a profound enthusiasm for learning and teaching. I find immense joy in problem-solving and simplifying difficult concepts. My goal is to help others overcome challenges and discover their potential in doing things they initially believed they couldn’t do.
