Lindsey Pullum

Originally from the coastal shores of North Carolina, Lindsey pursued her passion for people and culture across the globe in search of knowledge. While earning her Bachelors degree in Political Science at North Carolina State University, she studied abroad in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates and began learning Arabic. Her Masters degree in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures from Indiana University deepened her love of Arabic and expanded her knowledge of Hebrew and the geocultural politics of the Middle East. Still dissatisfied with how much she didn’t know, however, Lindsey conducted nine months of field research on the Druze of Israel and subsequently completed her PhD in Anthropology.

Lindsey believes that the best part about research is bringing those experiences back to the classroom and encouraging students to draw from their own life experiences to better understand concepts. While at Indiana University and The Modern College of Design, Lindsey has taught over 10 different courses with content ranging from Introduction to Public Speaking to Popular Culture of the Middle East. When not teaching or reading, you can find her running the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, walking her dog, or playing the guitar. Lindsey lives in the Eckington neighborhood of DC.

Philosophy

Lindsey treats all subject matter as if they are puzzles. And puzzles are fun! They are challenging and exhilarating! The ACT/SAT is just another puzzle that you have to take one step at a time. Maybe you are overwhelmed at first because you can’t see the big picture, or you want whatever the picture is to be perfect and done quickly. But all puzzle solutions start the same way – one piece at a time. You won’t see all the progress you’ve made until you’ve put all the pieces together! So, let’s get busy and do a puzzle!
