25+ Years of ACT and SAT Tutoring Knowledge

Bio

John Jones has been ACT and SAT tutoring at PrepMatters since 2001. He prepares students for the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, SSAT/ISEE/HSPT, PSAT, and ACT.  Mr. Jones began tutoring in high school, serving as Vice-President of Tutoring for a high school service organization. His tutoring experience continued through college and has also included work with the AmeriCorps National Service Program and the Boys and Girls Club of Maryland. After graduating from Dartmouth College with a BA in Economics, he worked in financial services and earned his Series 6 and Series 7 licenses.

Philosophy

One of my ACT and SAT tutoring goals is to help students overcome any negative expectations in relation to standardized tests. By becoming familiar with the test makers’ intent and with our own testing tendencies, we can maximize our performance. Thoughtful practice and review can help to mitigate and even eliminate any real or perceived obstacles. I like to remind students that there is always more they can do and more we can do as a team, to improve their performance on a test.
