A Philadelphia native, Maurice graduated from his neighborhood high school before attending Boston College, where he majored in English and philosophy. Drawn to supporting students since his own college days, Maurice brings nearly a decade of experience and knowledge to his counseling work. Over the course of his four years on The Heights, Maurice invested significant time into his studies while also exploring newly discovered passions like creative writing and visual artistry.

Following his time in Boston, Maurice moved back home to Philadelphia, where he began pursuing his Master’s degree in higher education at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. Working as the graduate assistant at the LGBT Center, Maurice received invaluable hands-on experience working with students. Immediately after graduating, Maurice returned to his high school, where he served as a college counselor and academic advisor for students that lived on the same blocks he once played in as a child.

One of Maurice’s strengths is the wide range of students he has had the opportunity to support, including high-achieving students, athletes, artists, first-generation students, students with learning differences, and many others. He carries the many lessons that he has learned throughout his career to continue his work guiding students through the college admissions process.

Most recently, Maurice has dedicated himself to assisting students in the D.C area, guiding them as they explore schools across the country and the world.

I believe that the college guidance process is a team effort in which students, families, and the counselor must be willing to be open, honest, and vulnerable.
