ACT test prep specialist, Madeline Gent, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and East Asian Languages and Literature from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. After working in the field of Visual Resources, Madeline started graduate school in art history and archaeology at the University of Maryland. During her time at Maryland, Madeline has been a Curatorial Fellow at the Smithsonian’s Museums of Asian Art, the Collections Registrar at the University of Maryland Art Gallery; and a Teaching Assistant for various courses such as Art and Society in Asia and Art and Society in Africa.

Currently Madeline is finishing her doctorate at the University of Maryland in early twentieth-century Chinese Art, and her dissertation topic is comics and cartoons in 1930s Shanghai.  In addition to her work at PrepMatters, Madeline is teaching undergraduate courses in art history at Johns Hopkins University in spring 2017.

Madeline began tutoring in high school. She was a National Honor’s Society tutor for a variety of subjects including AP biology and history. Most recently Madeline has tutored local elementary and middle school students in math, science, and English. She also has advised numerous undergraduate students on writing and public presentation skills.

When Madeline isn’t at the office or working on her dissertation, you can find her running along Rock Creek trail, watching HGTV, and perfecting her pad Thai recipe.

As Schoolhouse Rock reminds us, knowledge is power. The key, however, is knowing the type of knowledge you need. When it comes to standardized testing, that particular knowledge is a set of tips and tools that prepare you for the twists and turns a test may take. Together we will work on those needed skills, and our work will help you gain the necessary knowledge and practice needed for an added confidence boost on test day — and that is pretty powerful.

Madeline Gent is an outstanding tutor and a wonderfully supportive person. We highly recommend her for writing skills and SAT preparation.
