We encourage students to find the test – SSAT or ISEE – that works for them and to prepare for that test. However, sometimes students will perform about the same on both tests or will simply want to give both the SSAT and ISEE a try.
The material covered by the SSAT & ISEE is fairly similar: both primarily test critical reading, vocabulary and math. But, the way the material is presented and weighed can often point a student in one direction or the other.
Taking positive control is the best way to begin your high school journey.
Two of our country’s most respected institutions of higher learning are familiarly known to us as CalTech (California Institute of Technology) and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Both, as their names suggest, have a major focus on all things relating to science and technology – although that isn’t to say that students can’t pursue excellent courses of study in other fields.
Fresh notebooks. New backpacks. Summer turning to autumn. A looming zombie apocalypse. Ahh…the start of school!
Welcome to junior year, the most important year of the high school transcript. This will be the most recent full-year of grades submitted with your application. This is the year that highlights your mastery and expertise.
Making the most of your class time through effective note taking is key to managing a busy workload, and mastering these skills in high school will pay off not only now but also in college.
Air, space and sun. Do those sound like the interests of a dreamer, a lightweight? Well, not if your interests run to astrophysics and solar technology. You may know someone like that if you’ve worked with Adam Trebach at PrepMatters. Adam is one of PM’s tutors and hopes to add more clients to his schedule this year (via Skype), even though he will be entering the second year of his MIT Ph.D. program in computational physics – but we get ahead of ourselves.
Another school year is about to wind up. Many of you might have already got your schedules for the coming year and, if you’re like many other rising juniors and seniors, it’s just chock-full of AP courses. Taking AP courses is de rigueur for most college-bound students these days...
Students at both universities can round out their college experience with a host of activities in the form of on-campus clubs and organizations.
